Hello,

I use UMPC with 4.5" 1024x600 screen and need to
magnify part of screen in some applications while
being able to drag "magnified" zone across all the
desktop/desktops. I tried to use xrandr for that
and it's not fit for the job. For example:
sometimes (see below) works and magnifies part of
screen 1.5x, but when I try to move cursor beyond
an edge of the [1024x600 LVDS1] screen, it blacks
out for half a second, and then resets to normal
1x1-scale[-plus-panning] mode.

After the first such reset xrandr --scale
0.75x0.75 won't have any effect anymore. But it
will re-scale again (and then fail again when
attempting to use panning) if I use value
other than 0.75x0.75 (e.g. --scale 0.75x0.75,
then --scale 0.7x0.7, then --scale 0.6x0.6 and so
on).

Also, initial/subsequent change of --scale fails
if cursor is placed on the screen in the area
which will not be covered by "magnified zone"
(in right or bottom part of screen). It produces
black L-shaped zone along right+bottom edges with
original screen unmagnified, then resets to proper
picture when moving cursor to an edge of the
screen.
