Hi,
debchange has plenty of features that are useful even for the upstream
changelog, e.g. a well-defined changelog format, handling of entries by
multiple authors, interaction with VCS using debcommit etc. I am often
tempted to use debchange to maintain the upstream changelog in my
projects. But for that to be feasible, it should be a bit more relaxed
about the changelog format (e.g. coping with missing distribution and
urgency fields) and generate such fields, e.g. in a mode activated by
"--upstream".
If this is too far off debchange’s goals, feel free to mark as wontfix,
I won’t be insulted. And suggestions about similar tools for upstream
changelogs are welcome.
Thanks
Joachim
