also sprach Marco Balmer <marco@balmer.name> [2011.10.12.1642 +0200]: This is a non-free service. This means that the software will likely have to go to contrib. That is not true. In fact, text messages to most big network providers (Swisscom, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Orange, O2, …) usually cost between 1,5 and 3,0 credits, making them quite expensive: http://aspsms.de/instruction/prices.asp#terminationfees … which will cost another 0,25 credits.
If tied to aspsms.com, I believe it should be targeted contrib, not main. Regards, - Jonas
aspsms-t uses completly free software and yes: It need an external service to function. Still contrib? aspsms-t uses the http interface of aspsms.com, which means: delivery notification is free.
The URL you mention show that these files are aspsms.com properties. What gives you the right to: - download these files ? - use these files in your program ? - re-distribute these files ? Unless these question are answered in a verifiable way, your package cannot be uploaded in Debian (even in contrib) All the best Dominique -- http://config-model.wiki.sourceforge.net/ -o- http://search.cpan.org/~ddumont/ http://www.ohloh.net/accounts/ddumont -o- http://ddumont.wordpress.com/
Hi Dominique, You're right. I am currently clarifying this with people of aspsms.com. -Marco
Hi Dominique, According to people of aspsms.com, this [1] documentation (chapter 8) shold be enough to allow usage of fees.xml and networks.xml files. [1] http://www.aspsms.com/xml/doc/xmlsvr191.pdf If this does conflict with a policy of debian, let me know that I can handle this issue with aspsms and find a solution.
retitle 645103 RFP: aspsms-t -- aspsms-t is an open source /*GPL*/ jabber2sms transport written in perl // http://github.com/micressor/aspsms-t noowner 645103 tag 645103 - pending thanks Hi, A long time ago, you expressed interest in packaging aspsms-t. Unfortunately, it seems that it did not happen. In Debian, we try not to keep ITP bugs open for a too long time, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from packaging the software. This is an automatic email to change the status of aspsms-t back from ITP (Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen any activity during the last 15 months. If you are still interested in packaging aspsms-t, please send a mail to <control@bugs.debian.org> with: retitle 645103 ITP: aspsms-t -- aspsms-t is an open source /*GPL*/ jabber2sms transport written in perl // http://github.com/micressor/aspsms-t owner 645103 ! thanks It is also a good idea to document your progress on this ITP from time to time, by mailing <645103@bugs.debian.org>. If you need guidance on how to package this software, please reply to this email, and/or contact the debian-mentors@lists.debian.org mailing list. Thank you for your interest in Debian,
