I sometimes use mobile broadband to connect to the internet using an
ZTE UMTS stick model MF110

I use the gnome network-applet to manage the connections (nm-applet). I
configured a mobile broadband connection and I can kliuck on the nm-applet
tray icon and connect.
If i use the tray icon to disconnect, afterewards there is no entry in the tray
icons menu to connect again. It is gone somehow.
If I unplug and replug the USB UMTS adapter, the name of the broadband connection#
appears again in the menu and works as expected.
No reconnect without unplug-replug.
