Dear Maintainer,
With nouveau driver on a nvidia geforce4 mX4000, the backround image of my desktop is not correctly scaled (screen capture joined). I don't have this problem with nvidia driver.

Please show the output of xrandr.

Your logs show that a TV output is detected:

Do you actually have a TV output connected?

Something I just discovered is that I have the problem with gnome and
xfce, but not with LXDE.

You can disable the non-existent TV output by booting with the
"video=TV-1:d" kernel parameter.  For more information, consult the
Gentoo Wiki at [1].

And the above xrandr output is under which of these environments?
