Dear Maintainer,

Using a Lenovo ThinkPad x121e, with an Ericsson f5521gw chipset,
NetworkManager does not connect for me.

From the debug output, I see error codes 276 and 272, but I can't
find out what they mean.  The only other mention on the internet
is a posting from a Fedora user with the same problem:

If it is relevant, I am trying to use a UK Three broadband SIM card,
which I have confirmed to work on another machine.

I'll attach the detailed logs, and I'm happy to help debug this.

I found a similar bug on Launchpad, although the reporter was using Arch:

Seems this is a hardware/BIOS problem: rebooting into the BIOS and
restoring the default settings has resolved the issue (although I
doubt I changed anything relevant previously).  So I'm closing this
bug, because modemmanager works. :)

Remarkably, resetting BIOS to default values also cured this for me.  Debian
wheezy as of the time of this mail; Thinkpad X121e w/ Ericsson F5521gw.

I say 'cured': I still haven't routed any packets over it, but I've at least
got to the stage that it attempts to turn the modem (past hard rfkill etc.)

The 'BIOS reset to defaults' is not allways needed.
A simple reboot seems also to help.
