I have squeeze with XFCE.
'numlockx on' works fine, but doesn't light the keypad LED on XFCE.

This is a duplicate of #482592 (and not a numlockx issue at all FWIW,
see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16145).
