This is a regression compared to GNOME2: The default white text
on black background is hard to read for me, the black on
white/grey of the GNOME2 panel was much better and less
"depressing". There seems to be no easy way to change this. The
bug is reported upstreams bugzilla in #673417.

Hey Martin,

this is an old bug report.

Could you please still reproduce this issue with newer gnome-shell version
like 3.4.2-7+deb7u1 or 3.8.4-5+b1 ?
