#673599 iceweasel: typing in address bar freezes, makes switching tabs difficult also

keeping this Debian installation updated (not updating iceweasel).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

I had to hit the escape key (or change focus to another window) before
being able to see more
of the characters that I had typed, and was unable to use the down arrow
to select an alternative that was presented. Clicking directly on the
alternative with the mouse did work thought.

I tried upgradig iceweasel from unstable to experimental and that
didn't help either, the behaviour was the same.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Keeping this debian upgraded on unstable

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

typing in text boxes (e.g. the search box in wikipedia or other sites
where I had disabled javascript) froze. Hitting the escape key or
changing window focus seemed to break out of this problem until I
needed to type something new in an address bar or text box.

After downgrading libglib2.0-0:amd64 and related packages to 2.32.2-1,
the problem went away.

libglib2.0-0:amd64 versions 2.32.3-1 and 2.33.1-1 displayed the problem.

src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version
45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were
provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The
transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye
release in August 2021.
After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS
support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now.
