Hello,

after Upgrading to virtualbox-guest-* 4.1.16-dfsg-1 my keyboard stops working
in X after some minutes using it. The mouse is not affected, Cut&Paste still
works.

When i stop the X-Server the keyboard on console is running without problem.

My System is a Debian unstable running on a Windows7-host.

I couldn't find any information in Virtualbox' log, or inside the Xorg-Log
that could be related to the problem.

After Downgrading to 4.1.16-dfsg-1 all seems to be ok again for some hours
now.

Are you sure that the problem is only present in 4.1.16-dfsg-2?
4.1.16-dfsg-2 doesn't have any code changes in the guest additions.

Hallo! Du (Felix Geyer) hast geschrieben:

As I couldn't find anything in the Logs i'm not sure.

What I know is:

I upgraded virtualbox-guest-x11, virtualbox-guest-utils,
virtualbox-guest-dkms from 4.1.16-dfsg-1 to 4.1.16-dfsg-2 in the
morning.

I got the problems.

I rebooted the hostsystem and the client (the latter three times.)
Problem was reproduceable.

I downgraded to 4.1.16-dfsg-1 and rebooted the client-system, the problem
didn't show up again for the last 24hours.

thanks

I can't reproduce the bug.
Does version 4.1.18 fix the problem?

I installed 4.1.18 on Server and Client 3hours ago. No problem til
now. If it runs for 24h I will close this bug.

I upgraded Server and Client to 4.1.18-dfsg-1 (besides other changes that
happened in the meantime to kernel, Xorg and so on).

It now runs for 24 hours and the problem didn't pop up again.

Hi,

the problem showed up again.

It is related with Cut&Pasting with the mouse.

When I cut & Paste the Keyboard stops working without a notice.

I haven't found a way to make the keyboard working again, besides logging out.

When I start a second Xserver parallel then that one is working, but the other
not.

seems that others also have the problem. And it seems not related to
virtualbox.

I merge this bug into #677173

More observations.

Again the keyboard went away while cut&pasting. The Cut&Pasting happens in
stock xterms which contain ssh-sessions to remote hosts (just a few ms away)

My Environment is a Virtualbox, which runs on a Win7-Host.

After Keyboard went away I could enable the USB-Export of the Keyboard
connected to the Win7-Host and was able to continue working.

Disabling of the Keyboard leaves me still without.

hth. Please let me know if i can help with more information.

It looks like this behavior depends on the display manager you use.

I tried to reproduce the issue on a couple of co-workers computers (one
sid, one *buntu) and it didn't work. I switched my display manager from
gdm3 to kdm, and I can no longer enable slow keys by holding down shift.

Should this be a bug with gdm/gconf?
