Over time (which in my case is 2 days), icedove ends up eating too much memory. Initially I thought it to be plug-in related problems, but that is not the case. Same set of plugins, with TB 13, eat half of what icedove 11 does. Attached log might give some insight. PS: any plans on version 13?
Dear Maintainer, when I start icedove it uses about 55 MiB of free memory. After after reading some postings in my newssystem (~41300 news) icedove grabs a lot of memory, 1,6 GiB. Returning to the mails it uses only ~60 MiB of memory And sometimes it didn't free the memory by returning. Greetings Peter
Hello, This is not a specific debian problem and should be fixed upstream. It would be helpful if you can check if there is a reported bug in the bugtracker of mozilla. If not please open a bugreport there an post the URI here. So we can track the status of the bug on mozilla. Regards Carsten
Dear Maintainer, it seems to be an old bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185634 The inital reportis from 2002! Greeting Peter
forwarded 682065 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185634 retitle 682065 icedove use huge amount memory while reading big newsgroups thanks Hello Peter, thanks fo searching the bugreport on the mozilla bugtracker. Yes, this is long ago this behavior is reported for the first time, but unfortunately this is nothing unusual on mozilla bugs. There are some other bugs opened for over ten years. Maybe Mozilla is working on it in future versions of FF/TB. For version 16 and 17 are big reworks for the memory managment announced.
