Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation? - checking the sources through gui
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? went to the tab updates in the repository window of the
synaptic package manager
   * What was the outcome of this action? found an entry saying notify me when
a new ubuntu version is available
   * What outcome did you expect instead? what has ubuntu to do with debian..
it should have been notify me when a new debian stable version is available of
something.

Dear Maintainer,

In configuration window "software sources" > "updates", there is the option:
"Notify me of a new Ubuntu version".
Default value is: "For any new version".

1- I would like to set this value to "Never", but it is broken. When I do so, I
have error message into konsole (see bellow), and the value is not saved.
2- Ubuntu should be renamed to Debian.

Outcome of this bug is that users have some times a popup telling them that
updates are avaible.
This is not usefull because they can't do this update.

Dear Maintainer,

In Synpatic GUI, if you go in software sources>updates, you'll see an option :
"notify me when a new ubuntu version"
LOL. What this option will do? Upgrade Wheezy to Ubuntu ? Please consider
translate this to "notify me when a new Debian version" o remobve this option.

Best regards,

Dear Maintainer,

In synaptic, go in software sources menu panel > updates and you'll find an
option "notify me when a new ubuntu version"
This is funny :p
Please consider remove it or translate to Debian is a upgrade to the next
debian stable is supposed to be proposed by this option

Best regards,

I've just installed the released wheezy 7.1, and came across this
exact issue. Searching found this BT entry.

While certainly not a major functional problem, it just strikes me as
odd that this was first reported in Oct 2012, when wheezy was still
"testing", and now, nearly a year later, now that it has been promoted
to "stable", and even had a following point release, that it still
says "Notify me when there is a new version of Ubuntu"
