Dear Maintainer, since last update the shortcuts for search engines doesn't work anymore. For example, my iceweasel is configured to search at amazon if i type "a $whatimsearchingfor" and to search at wikipedia if i'm typing "w $whatimsearchingfor" but now it's starting a search with the default engine allthough i use the shortcuts. Best regards Martin
If you go in the manage search engines dialog, do you still have keywords, there? Does it happen if you start with all addons disabled? (check the Help menu, there's an item to do that) Mike
Now I realised that some search-engines are gone since last update. The engines that remained are still working, so this seems to be an update-issue? Best regards Martin
Hi, I recently upgraded (almost pure wheezy) from 10.0.12esr-1 (wheezy) to 20.0-1 (experimental) and all the keywords I had entered for search engines have disappeared, making the search shortcuts (as described by the original reporter) not work anymore. I didn't notice that any search engine disappeared, but, with few exceptions, I mostly use only my own search engines. It would be nice to have an upgrade procedure that doesn't lose the keywords. Thanks, Eric
This problem still exists in firefox-esr (Debian 10 & 11). I am not sure about that but I think on a Windows machine my Firefox-ESR does not lose the search shortcuts when I updated it. So it could be related to the debian packaing process. Kind Christian
src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version 45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye release in August 2021. After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now. Andreas
