After upgrade sound has stopped working, but I can hear the kde greeting sound at startup. I have noticed that I cannot play youtube video anymore via konqueror (it used the HTML5 protocol, which is now broken).

I suspect you think it is similar to another bug I have read about.
Anyway, maybe it can help, after upgrade I have noticed:
1. kmix won't start
2. konqueror won't use html5

reopen 705243 tag 705243 moreinfo unreproducible thanks Oh, I'm **terribly** sorry, I missed the fact that your bug was against squeeze, not wheezy. Please accept my apologies. Now this is strange, do you remeber which packages did you upgrade last? I will help us to narrow down the problem. Kinds regards, Lisandro.
Do you know how to get the package list of my upgrade? I only remember it was a massive upgrade with many many kde packages and the linux kernel... Since then I have tried to reinstall some kde packages with no success... Mauro

But on the other hand, the latest KDE upload to stable was on September of 2011. Did you upgrade from Lenny perhaps? Or was it an installation prior to that date? Kinds regards, Lisandro.

You didn't run anything here, and you are using root. This all seems a problem in your setup. Have you tried creating a new user? I recommend you to search for help in mailing lists like debian- kde@lists.debian.org or maybe on irc on #debian
ok, as user I get a similar but shorter response: mauro@aiace:~$ kmix & [1] 8180 mauro@aiace:~$ QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. and nothing else, it seems stopped... well, if you are convinced it is a wrong setting then I will follow your advice. thank you Mauro
I deleted kmix (which refused to start) and installed the "veromix" applet to get volume control. This solved my two issues: 1. no volume control because kmix did not start 2. the desktop system was freezed until the kde greeting sound, maybe, I guess, because kmix was trying to start (now the desktop system is responsive and ready to start programs before the kde greeting sound). I Hope this helps.
