Put the mouse on the space between two columns header.


* What was the outcome of this action?

The mouse cursor shows arrows (<->) as if I could resize the columns,
but trying to resize them has no effect.


* What outcome did you expect instead?

I expect to be able to resize the columns, as in previous versions of
nautilus. (At lease, if it is a feature that the columns are nor
resizeable anymore, then I expect the cursor not to show resizing
arrows.)


By the way, thanks for maintaining GNOME in Debian!

Hi,

I recently installed nautilus 3.12.2 and the issue, although marked as
fixed in nautilus 3.12.0, is not really fixed.

Some nautilus columns, while in list view, can only be resized to the
left (i.e., reducing the size).  Other columns cannot be resized at all.
The issue is problematic with long names (as shown in the attached
screenshot), and is much more problematic now that the Type column
provides no details, forcing the user to add the MIME Type column.

In some cases, resizing the window helps, but in some others (like Trash
and Search, which add a Location column), it's quite frustrating.

I just found the related bug report from earlier last year:

The issue seems related to avoiding horizontal scrollbar at all costs
---which probably means it won't be fixed, since GNOME developers know
best (!).

it seems they are avoiding horizontal bars at all cost as said in a

It behaves exactly as John said with 3.12.2-1

Actually you are both true. I had resized the only column that was
resizable because there was enough space to do so. (The filename column)
