When using gnome3 in fallback mode, normally there are icons for
sound, battery and network on the right-hand side of the top gnome-panel.
With openchrome in EXA mode, which is now the default, these icons aren't
displayed properly.
Upon starting X, they usually aren't shown at all, as if there's nothing
in that area of the panel. (Just the usual black background.) However,
the applets are actually there, and they work correctly, but any changes
(such as volume change or network strength) won't be displayed.
I can force the icons to get shown properly, by leaving X and coming back,
accomplished by Ctrl-alt-f1, followed by Ctrl-alt-f7 (or Ctrl-alt-f8).
But now, again, they will not be updated in X. They are stuck showing the
applet status at the time we came back to X.
If I make an xorg.conf file and change to using XAA instead of EXA,
the icons are shown and updated properly at all times.
