I think its a cool thing, that use Debian's /etc/alternatives for links's
Associations or File extensions.

ITYM /etc/mime.types and /etc/mailcap. I agree it would be useful to have
this automatic functionality.

Using mime.types is already in my local deb, but mailcap won't come soon,
unless someone write it (and links source isn't something you habitually
modify, it is, how to put it, a little undercommented). I wrote a conversion
script to put mailcap into links, but that's the most I can do about it
right now.

(I asked raszi to file the bug against alternatives, it'll be fixed hopefully
today, with other things and the new patches I seen floating around.)
