Hi, installing a machine from backups, I initially tend to move "pristine" conf files/dirs away, and replace them with those from backups. I missed restoring /etc/dovecot/, so dovecot told me through syslog the following config file was missing: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf; that amount of times: | 98M /var/log/syslog | 249M /var/log/syslog.1 I think it would have been OK to just die the first time, instead of repeatedly trying to reopen it (rate-limit kicked in on the syslog side). Mraw, KiBi.
