I had a chance to use great piece of software and would gladly take
maintain it but as upstream is dead already [1] thus the software
doesn't work nor will have future updates I suggest that this bug should
be closed. Thanks to submitter and keep searching more crazy stuff :).

Cheers,

zlatan

Popcorn Time [1] upstream is officially dead. There will be no further
development
on this piece of software. Its all explained in their story and thats why
Debian
will not have this package in its archive. Thanks to submitter. This bug is
going
to be closed.

retitle 741972 ITP: popcorn-time -- Torrent movie streamer
owner 741972 !
thanks

I have the intention of packaging this. I think first step would be some
research to see if popcorn-time would be accepted as debian package or if
there are some big blockers.

There is no process in Debian for pre-approval. So you will be the expert on
the topic when you work on the packaging. How far are you now? Is there a
public version control repository available? The bar of entry in Debian is
normally the code license, and if you have a look at a blog post I wrote about
license checking, see
<URL: http://people.skolelinux.org/pere/blog/Creating__updating_and_checking_debian_copyright_semi_automatically.html >.

I discovered this when I was going to check the copyright license of
Popcorn Time. The task became a bit harder when the code no longer
were available on Github.

There is a "fork" of the Popcorn Time client named Butter Desktop,
<URL: https://github.com/butterproject/butter-desktop >, which might be
a useful alternative to package in Debian.
