An update to evolution-ews, appears to have broken the mail functionality to the ews package. The calendar and contacts do work. The mail section will not send or receive mail, when "inbox" or a folder in "inbox" is selected, it gives the error "You must be working online to complete this operation." Evolution is online, and other accounts work, (pop, imap, imap+, etc). This makes it impossible to use evolution as an Exchange client for mail.
Performed dist-upgrade on Debian jessie system (from jessie to jessie, not changing releases). Same problem, evolution is "online", connects to IMAP accounts, reports "offline" for ews account. Bill West
Additional information I am able to retrieve the EWS folder sizes, both from the account setup screen, and by right-clicking on the account name in the sidebar and then clicking on "Folder sizes". I can break this by setting up bogus values in the proxy configuration, so it seems that there is some sort of connection being established. Let me know if you need an Exchange mail account on our server for testing. Bill West
The workaround in upstream bug 708175 which involves setting http_proxy environment variable and starting Evolution from the command line resolves this problem (in an inconvenient way). Running in Xfce session, but I observed the original problem in both Gnome and Gnome Classic sessions also. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708175 On Jessie box, did following on command line, and evolution connected to Exchange server. The proxy url is a bogus one (from bug report 708175 linked above). Upgraded to Evolution 3.12.2 using 'apt-get upgrade' on debian jessie, problem still exists. --- Please enter the report below this line. --- This bug disappeared after last update to testing. The only change I see is that due to new upgrades I was forced to switch to systemd and can no longer continue to use sysV. Now the EWS plugin is able to detect network is on and recover/send mails.
