I always used the Nvidia driver on Debian 7, without problem by using MATE 1.6
version and the last Nvidia driver.

You can see in atachment a quick video about the bug.

1) reproducing this bug with nouveau
2) providing information on which versions of X, mate, nvidia, and
   nouveau show this bug and whether different versions do not.

Hi Stefano,

do you think you can look at #750587 [1] and give feedback about
possible reasons? Is it really a window manager issue? Or is the
issuer's gcard simply broken (or the driver).

Please try another desktop environment (LXDE, XFCE) and verify if this
really is a MATE-only problem. I presume it is not...

I just got notice from MATE upstream via IRC and we both presume that
you are actually bumping into a driver issue (or maybe run on broken
hardware).

I tried with Gnome 3, XFCE and there is no problem about it.

Here are some extra information about Jessie packages:
     Kernel: 3.14-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.14.4-1 (2014-05-13) x86_64
GNU/Linux
     Nvidia driver: 331.67-2 && latest (331.79)
     mate-desktop-environment-extras :1.8.0+2
     xserver-xorg : 1:7.7+7
     xserver-xorg-core :2:1.15.1-1
All versions (except 331?79) are official packages from debian.

There is no problem on Debian 7.5 with MATE 1.6:
     Kernel: 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.57-3+deb7u2 x86_64 GNU/Linux
     Nvidia driver: 304.117-1
     mate-desktop-environment-extras: 1.6.0.2+7.wheezy
     xserver-xorg: 1:7.7+3~deb7u1
     xserver-xorg-core: 2:1.12.4-6+deb7u2

If you need more informations, please let me know and I will reinstall
Debian Jessie.
