Dear Maintainer,

After the latest updates on Debian Jessie GTK apps loses some random
characters. I upgraded yesterday and all was fine. Today I switched on my PC
and it starts. I thought it might be KDE bug, but installing different desktop
environments (Mate, razorqt) diidn't help.
Looks like Qt apps don't affect this behavior. GTK apps completely unusable.
I think it is glib2, because latest upgrade involves it and libgtkmm. Aptitude
log shoed in the end of bug report.

Wrong behavoir: random missing characters in GTK apps.
Expected behavior: all characters showing.

I can also reproduce this on Ubuntu 14.10, which has a more recent libglib
version. The symptoms look very similar. I also sometimes have all the text
in an application disappear. Usually switching desktops away and back will
fix it.

So far I've only been able to reproduce it with Chrome running - otherwise
it doesn't seem to occur. Boris, do you use Chrome?

Cheers,
Michael

Hi all,

This looks really similar to a bug on freedesktop.org "Font and screen corruption in GTK+ applications", but attributed to the intel graphics drivers, rather than libglib2.0-0:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88584

Also, on the "semplice" GTK distribution based on Debian sid, some users (incl. myself) on the forum have reported this problem, and they all use intel integrated graphics, so there seems to be a trend. This thread for example, where I posted a trace found in /var/log/syslog relating to DRM and i915 (not sure if really relevant, though):
http://semplice-linux.org/community/viewtopic.php?pid=5713#p5713

I experienced the problem yesterday again with following version of libglib2.0:
ii libglib2.0-0:i386 2.44.0-2 i386 GLib library of C routines
ii libglib2.0-bin 2.44.0-2 i386 Programs for the GLib library
ii libglib2.0-data 2.44.0-2 all Common files for GLib library
ii libglib2.0-dev 2.44.0-2 i386 Development files for the GLib library

This might be triggered by a combination of factors like: intel graphics + 32 bits + some versions of libglib2?
Hope this helps.

Cheers

Marc
