Two of my systems recently become unable to receive mail.  This has happened
before, sometimes a reboot fixes it.  But a bigger problem is the fact that
kmail doesn't display any reason for this problem.  It reacts in exactly the
same manner as if it had checked for mail and found no new mail, it's only
checking on my phone that reveals that there is new mail that kmail isn't
receiving.

One of those two systems can't send mail.  Mail I try to send goes to the
outbox and stays there indefinitely with no errors being displayed.  Even a
manual "Send Queued Messages" operation generates no error message.  To send
such mail I used to move it to the Drafts folder and then use my phone to send
it.  But now that kmail isn't supporting checking mail that isn't an option.

The system which runs Wheezy has kmail accessing the same account with no
problems.  So this isn't a problem at the server end.

I have recently experienced the "send" side of the above report,
repeatedly. This may be related to the fact that I tend to leave
my KDE session open for days -- I think that crossing midnight
triggers tris, but I may be wrong about it.

Anyway, repeatedly, kmail quietly puts mails in outbox instead
of sending them, and as described, "send queued messages" does nothing.
When this happens, restarting kmail alone does not help, but
after restarting Akonadi, when kmail starts again, it does send
from the outbox.

(so this may actually be an Akonadi, rather than KMail, problem,
although I wasn't aware Akonadi is involved in sending mails too).

the issue that kmail do not show new mails I also see at my system, but this
is not relateed to midnight. My system also runs for days and is only triggerd
after some days. I didn't saw the issue for the newest akonadi comination and
it only occures for one account.

But I never saw it that mails do not go out and are not send.

One thing that actually is related is switching i-net on/off in shot time
frame (5min) f.ex. vpn on/off with vpn inside no connection to mailserver.

But I never saw it that mails do not go out and are not send.

Yepp it is a akonadi issue, 'cause akonadi is doing the whole interaction with
the outside world.
