Dear Maintainer,

while browsing the jamendo website, it occured to me that
totem might have a plugin to integrate it in the desktop.

And indeed I found plenty of reference to that plugin on
the web, including the gnome website:

So I guess this plugin should be part of totem-plugins, but
apparently it is not there. A bit of research shows that it
was removed in 2011 with other plugins, but no reason is
given:

I couldn't find any bug report specific to that plugin, and
nothing in the NEWS or README files for totem-plugins, so
would you consider re-enabling it, or documenting why it is
disabled ?

The commit you're referring to is part of the
totem 3.2.1-1 version.

The reason jamendo (et.al.) was "removed" is because it is no longer
shipped by totem upstream.

Totem has for a long time worked towards not really having
totem-specific plugins for these data sources but instead use them
via grilo which is basically a common abstraction layer for all these
online data sources so that everyone (not just totem) can access the
information.

What you really want is for someone to integrate jamendo into grilo.
That way totem should be able to access jamendo without having any
totem-specific changes.

I don't know, but since the totem jamendo plugin was removed I expect
the equivalent functionality already exists on the grilo side....

thanks for your answer. I see that now.

And indeed grilo has a jamendo plugin, which is shipped in debian, but
which probably should integrate better with gnome-music than with totem.

*But*, because there is always a but :-) To stay on the totem side of
things, grilo also has a vimeo and a youtube plugin, for which I don't
see a corresponding source in totem. Is there something to add or
activate for them ?

They don't provide browse (or not in a way that's useful for users in
YouTube's case), so they don't appear in the main view, but you can
search in them using the search function.

Jamendo doesn't appear in Totem because we only allow video plugins.
Rhythmbox and gnome-music can show Jamendo sources.
