You will see from below that I have an InputClass section for a
Synaptics touch pad. The odd thing is that while the
"EmulateMidButtonTime" setting is working (as revealed by synclient),
the other Options like "HorizEdgeScroll" are not set.

On another (i386 debian testing) machine with a very similar InputCLass
section all the Options are set properly.

I have carefully compared the /var/log/Xorg.0.log files on the two
machines, one for success, the other for failure, and can see no
significant difference.

The /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ files are the same on both machines.
While the /etc/X11/xorg.conf Option settings are different on the two machines,
they both have
	Option  "HorizEdgeScroll"       "true"
among others in common, yet as I say, it works on the i386 box but not
here.

I can set the options from synclient so that is working.

Is there any information that I can collect that would be useful in
diagnosis?
