The Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK) is a free open-source software system for development of interactive medical image processing software. MITK combines the Insight Toolkit (ITK) and the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) with an application framework. As a toolkit, MITK offers those features that are relevant for the development of interactive medical imaging software covered neither by ITK nor VTK, see the Toolkit_Features for details.

MITK can be used or integrated with existing solutions in several ways, see  Research Platform for examples.

For MITK it would be great to have at least the workbench application
as a general DICOM viewer / annotation tool in debian. We would be
very happy to help on packaging this. Do you think we would need lib
and dev packages right from the beginning? We currently do not have a
working "make install" that includes header files, but we are
currently moving to newest CMake's module system which should greatly
simplify things.

I'm stumbling upon old ITPs.  Thanks for working on this.

Since your current plans about cooperation are not clear to me I wonder
what VCS you might like to use and how I could integrate this package
into the Debian Med tasks (before the package is actually uploaded to
the Debian mirror).

I have been interested in MITK for a very short period of time (for
work), but it has been decided not to use it. Which explains my update
into an RFP.
