I just did an aptitude upgrade (to latest Debian/unstable) and now I'm
getting an annoying modal dialog prompting for my password
("Authentication is required to update SMART data from XXXXX (/dev/sda)")
about every five seconds. How do I make this stop?

I tracked down the message to this package, and I tried updating
to the Debian/experimental version of the package. No luck.
Help!

Dear Maintainer,

Your program repeatedly asks for the root password via dialog under KDE, although I have already denied this. This is especially noticeable when switching between X servers. I can't uninstall this nonsense, because KDE depends on it. So please turn it off. Again, no means no.
Thank you in advance!
