Dear Maintainer,
I have noticed on some websites that where icons/widgets
should be displayed, there is instead a square box with a hex
code inside. This morning I discovered these are 'FontAwesome'
icons, at least in the case of 'shoutcast.com'.
Referencing 'astronaut.co/snippet/font-awesome/' I can see
that the 'play' icon ('fa-play') has code '\F04B', and the
'download' icon ('fa-download') has code '\F019'. The play icon
shows as the box with F04B in it and is selectable, but
the download icon is not displayed at all and is not selectable.
Screenshot is attached. Firefox on Fedora doesn't have this
problem, nor does chromium on Debian or Fedora.
Hi,
I also suffered the same bug, and tried to figure out what's wrong.
There seem to be two factors blocking fonts:
1. Preference -- Content -- Fonts & Colors -- Advanced
-- Allow pages to choose their own fonts
This have to be selected to allow fontawesome.
2. Noscript plugin (if you have it)
Needs to allow certain domains where the font resides.
Also, there's a troubleshooting guide here:

Cheers,
Yixuan
Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, #1 (Allow pages to choose their own fonts) was already set, and for #2, I don't have the 'Noscript' plugin installed. I disabled AdBlock Plus and reloaded the page but no success.
I can see the widgets on www.shoutcast.com now. I have upgraded to iceweasel V38.0.1-5. One oddity I noticed when checking the 'Allow pages to choose...' setting is that the that the 'Advanced' button on 'Preferences/Content' has a little box with 'acb' in it to the left. Can't see the page source or inspect that element to see if it is a fontawesome thing.
src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version 45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye release in August 2021. After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now. Andreas
