Dear Maintainer,

troubleshooting an unrelated - gnome-terminal not starting -
I found this line in

/usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias
   C.UTF-8      en_US.UTF-8


I have no en_US locale set up, only en_IE.

I decided to replace it with this, to continue:
   C.UTF-8      C
