When using zenity, e.g. zenity --info foo I get the following message: Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
Dear Maintainer, Whatever I do with Zenity there is: Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged. It is not only annoying. It disturbes scripts using zenity. Including editor entries that require zenity. I am doing: vim, then !zenity --options and I get in editor Gtk bugs. This should not be there, not in zenity package.
Hi, i have the bug 785691 and i don't know how to resolve it. Can you help me please? Regards T.
Still here in 3.20.0
This is not a 'bug' as such. One of the GTK+ devs decided to insert this warning into the Gtk Dialog function gtk_dialog_map because he thinks no dialog window (as used by LOTS of applications, including Zenity) should run without a parent window - see https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2014-May/msg00576.html and https://github.com/GNOME/gtk/blob/master/gtk/gtkdialog.c. Or perhaps it is a bug - in Gtk+.
According to https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2014-May/msg00576.html "We want make it mandatory for dialogs to have transient parents, eventually. This is a first step in that direction." So, perhaps this is currently not really a bug in zenity, but this will become a more important bug with some future version of GTK+, once this has been made mandatory. So, in short, zenity should be fixed.
