Hi!

the last versions of the package description have all the lines, except
for the first, starting with a space character.

This causes those lines to be treated as verbatime text, they are not
flowed to fit different display width and could be displayed in a
different font.

The result in the package page can be seen here:

https://packages.debian.org/sid/php-services-weather

I think those starting spaces should all be removed.

As a minor side note, the last version included a change in the title
changed from

"acts as an interface to various online weather-services"

to

"This class acts as an interface to various online weather-services"

I think the first version (or even the simplified "interface to various
online weather-services") is more adherent to what the debian Developer
Reference suggests in

https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.html#bpp-pkg-synopsis

but that is definitely just a suggestion.

Thanks,

beatrice

Hi Beatrice,

Thank you for the report.

Some versions of pkg-php-tools did break the layout, rebuilding it with
the current version fixes the issue (i.e., the next upload will fix this
bug without any extra change needed).

Agreed. Maybe we should hardcode back (or patch) an improved version of
the synopsis currently extracted from upstream package.xml.

FWIW, this package is only recommended by php-horde, is not maintained
upstream anymore, and seen its last upstream update almost three years
ago. If someone familiar with Horde could investigate if this package is
still useful, that would be nice. If dropping the recommendation makes
sense, an RC bug against php-services-weather could prevent it from
getting shipped with Stretch, even before asking for its removal.

David

Hello,

It's still used in horde/lib/Block/Metar.php, even on current upstream
git master. but alternatively, there is horde/lib/Block/Weather.php,
whch seems to provide the same info.

I've filled https://bugs.horde.org/ticket/14050 upstream.

Thank you for following up, let’s try to track this issue in the BTS. I
suppose it will make sense to raise the severity of this report
depending on the Horde upstream outcome.
