Dear Maintainer,
I would like to report a bug concerning your product "VMware Workstation 11".
I guess there is a problem in the VMware-drivers which can cause the X-server to crash on a Linux OS,
when opening a large PNG image in certain applications.
Host details:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
CPU: Intel I7-4790K
Chipset: Z97
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600
Guest details:
OS: Debian 8.1 x64
Memory: 24 GiB
Accelerate 3D graphics - checked
Graphics memory: 256 MB
VMware Workstation Details:
Version: 11.1.2 build-2780323
VMware tools: 9.9.3.47419 (build-2759765)
Applications which will cause X-server to crash:
Gnome Image Viewer 3.14.11
ImageMagick 6.9.1-2 Q16
Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Open the attached image in one of the mentioned applications
2. After a couple of seconds the X-server will crash.
Additional information about the crash:
I've been able to gather backtraces with GDB of X-server during the crash of both applications.
Please see the two attached .txt files.
As you can see there is a involvement of /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/vmware_drv.so in both cases.
In a second test I've tried to reproduce the crash on a native Debian system: without success.
