after a while all the windows on screen freeze, you can move the cursor of the
mouse but you can't select anything.
You can open a new session by ctrl+alt+F2 and see that the cpu is not occupied
generally 25% if a window of Firefox  was freezen on the first session if you
kill the process of firefox nothing change on the screen frozen.
I search by google and i found an discussion on forum.kde.org name Plasmashell
freezes after a while and then everything freeze of January 2015 who seems its
near my problem
i also read bug 341963 of bugs.kde.org
who give an advice to remove ./cache with no success its continue to freeze

once again the bottom bar of screen indicating the launched programs does
notanswer, i succeed on a konsole :

I hope with these informations help you.

I just had the same problem and noticed that running the activitymanager
would also freeze plasmashell.
Then I removed .cache and removed all information about Activities in
the various config files
(in .local, .config, .kde -- I'm not sure which one is the current)
now it seems to work again.

the problem in my case occurred shortly after installing AndroidStudio,
which at some point ran out of disk space.
It might be the culprit...

The problem always exists, these last two days I had had no blocking, previously I had to
reboot the system one twice a day what is not very pleasant, today I was still a victim of this
blocking.
The blocking does not still show itself in the same way, the common point is however the
impossibility to launch a program since the bar of command. Certain times it is possible to
exploit the open windows and even to launch the yakuake konsoles, of other time we can make
nothing except open a new session by Ctl+Alt+F2.
On a Yakuake console qdbus org.kde.plasmashell show that it does not work, on the screen
sometimes its seems that an little white window is open, one time an little window name
plasma is open and blocked.
The blocking can arrive the session being opened and without activity.
The only method to reboot the computer is to launch a poweroff yakuake is in a new session or
in a console.
Today after a poweroff I had this message:
policykit daemon disconnected from the bus. we are no longer a registered authentication agent
Sometimes when all is blocked after an poweroff the system never stop, the only method is to
stop the computer electrically.
