So I'm running "GNOME on Wayland" and now the Debconf Graphical User Interface does not show up. This seems to be because of the limitation Wayland has, as it does not support X11 like Forwarding. The FAQ on Wayland has some ideas, but I don't think anything is readily available. http://wayland.freedesktop.org/faq.html#heading_toc_j_7
I'm sorry for the very long delay in replying to this! I don't quite see the link with forwarding, unless you're connecting over SSH. I just tested the debconf UI in a bookworm VM running Wayland, and things seemed to work fine (it used Xwayland until I realized I had to pass the XDG_RUNTIME_DIR environment variable through sudo, but that was the only hitch). Is it possible that this has been fixed by something other than debconf in the intervening years? Thanks,
