   * What led up to the situation?

trying to use the package as an imap server for a local account,
loading of folder took hours and aborted sometimes, also producing
numerous spurious folders.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

tried removing local folder and starting again.

Removed package and installed dovecot imapd, which worked fine.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
