using an HP laptop with external VGA monitor. issue happens with two different brand monitors

either

a) start X with the external monitor connected

b) when X is runing, connect an external monitor

   * What was the outcome of this action?

internal monitor luminosity is reduced to 0, must be restored with fn+f10 or top bar widget

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

internal monitor luminosity unaffected
