Recently when I start synaptic from a non root user, I would get prompted for
the Administrator password. I would enter the root password and synaptic would
tell me the password was wrong. I know the password is right. I was having to
su and then start synaptic. Since something was wrong with synaptic, I removed
everything in ~.gnome2/keyrings in order to clear out anything in there
synaptic may have been trying to use. Since I did that, synaptic will not
start. When I try to run it from the menu of a non root user, nothing ever
shows up. If I grep for synaptic I see synaptic -pkexec processes running. If
I run synaptic -pkexec from a terminal, it just hangs and nothing ever shows.

Dear Maintainer,

same problem here since one or two months ago.
In addition, (non-root) terminal output says

The symptoms of this bug sound like what is described in #881365. That
bug lists a workaround.
