I trying install Jessie with Cinamon desktop from amd64 netinstall ISO to PC with dual core amd64 CPU. After this I'm try run "apt-get install ibus-anthy" in root terminal. And system menu is freezing. It still visible, but don't react to mouse. Reset, apt-get purge ibus ibus-anthy, apt-get install ibus-anthy - result the same. After this I'm tested this bug in VirtualBox and try setup only ibus. If I'm set VirtualBox to use two core, display image is freezing after ibus installation, but mouse cursor still work. If I'm use one core - bug may appear, and may not appear (may be synchronization problem betwen two core?). If I'm try install ibus from LiveCD, this bug also don't appear. Also I'm trying setup ibus-anthy in Mate desktop. In this case ibus work, but Japanese input show Latin characters when I'm excepted hiragana. After single reboot this bug disappear. If I'm try reproduce this bug in VirtualBox setting to use one core, this bug don't appear. For more info - I'm use integrated graphics processor. May be this is root of problem. But other software work without bug. PS Sorry if my English is bad.
Control: severity 813111 normal Control: tags 813111 moreinfo Just because you are facing hard time using this program, it does not get "grave" rating. See https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#severities Did you run "apt-get update" before? Besides, I can not tell what is causing "freeze" from what you described. Are you in virtual box? Then there may be other reasons for the problem. If you are reporting bug to ibus, please make sure and narrow down poroblem using a simplest possible system. Hmmmm... network problem of your virtual environment? If it works under LiveCD, it is not ibus problem. ??? Of course, you need to restart the ibus system. This is normal. For newbie, reboot is the easiest way to achieve restart. Please read /usr/share/doc/ibus/README.Debian before filing a bug. (Debian's input method configuration utility is a minimalist one.) Unless you have concrete evidence ibus has bug, this bug report serve almost nothing. I see you seem to have system configuration problem with unknown source. You are doing better than me :-) Regards, osamu
We talk about netinstall. Minimal installation image, who downloaded all necessary package from the net. It's ALWAYS run apt-get update in installation process. And ALWAYS install last available version of package. Because just don't have any other versions. I'm in real PC and after get this bug, I'm try testing this bug in VirtualBox. Sorry for skipping necessary explanation. Ibus-anthy is package necessary for support typing Japanese words. You print "kokoro" and Ibus-anthy translate this into こころ (hiragana alphabet), or 心 (kanji form). I't cannot work through traditional keymap mechanism because Japanese language have thousands kanji, but keyboard don't have thousands keys. And when I'm print "kokoro" I'm see "kokoro", when I'm except こころ. After single reboot this bug disappear. reboot. Also this word missing in GUI configuration window. If reboot really necessary, we have large error in documentation file and configuration window. /usr/share/doc/ibus/README IBus - Input Bus Introduction === IBus is an Intelligent Input Bus. Hi,
for me)
I did not say "README". (I was a bit sloppy not mentioning ".gz" but please use common sense.)
$ zcat /usr/share/doc/ibus/README.Debian.gz |tail
So, if you have non-alphabet input via XKB, you need to lock your keyboard
setting within the configuration of particular ibus method used, e.g.,
ibus-kkc, ibus-anthy, ibus-pynyin, ....
* Always restart ibus if you changes its settings.
If you are not sure how, exit your desktop environment and relogin to the
user account to have a refreshed X session.
