Hi,

the webpages
https://www.debian.org/devel/join
and
https://www.debian.org/devel/join/newmaint
need some update regarding the General Resolution
https://www.debian.org/vote/2010/vote_002
(welcome non-uploading Debian contributors).

There had been some work to change "Debian maintainer" into
"Debian member" and similar, but there are still very much
occurences of "developer" or "maintainer", where "member" would
be better.

Moreover, based on the GR mentioned above, we have a third category
of Debian membership now (Debian maintainer, Debian developer and
Debian non-uploading developer).
This should be described in more detail on this pages, to have more
benefit of this:
people, who are interested in joining Debian, should be told, that
there is something like "the non-uploading membership". Otherwise
they probably don't get so far to do the application.

In my opinion, there is some potential for confusion on the terms
"Debian maintainer", "Debian developer" and "Debian member",
especially for newcomers. Maybe there is some room for improvement?

If you agree with the above in general, I could prepare a patch.

Holger

Hi,

half a year ago I filed this bugreport, but I got no answer since.

What's the opinion of nm.debian.org on this?

As already said, I would volunteer to create some patches, but I don't want
to waste time on this, if no one wants such changings.

Regards
Holger

Sorry this got dropped. I'd welcome suggested new wording to help
clarify the upload/non-upload/contributor differences within Debian.
