I'm trying to install Debian Testing under Hyper-V Windows Server 2012 R2.
mem: Start-up 1024Mb Dynamic Min 512Mb Max 3584
proc: 2
vhdx: 10Gb
Install it using non-GUI.
Then It freezes during:
Partitions formatting at 33%
Creating ext4 file system for / in partition #1 of SCSI3 (0,0,0) (sda)...
Note: I have installed Debian 7/Wheezy 7.11 and 8/Jessie 8.5 on Hyper-V;
so far no problem on installation with the two versions...
Hi, Larry Sevilla <sevilla.larry.oss@gmail.com> (2016-06-23): Please check syslog output on the console and see whether there's something about kernel/module mismatch (symbol-related errors), or something else. KiBi.
It seems PartMan is looping / recursing... Attached log files
Tried again with the new image, but still failed. Attached screenshot. On Mon, Jun 27, 2016 at 4:21 PM, Larry Sevilla <sevilla.larry.oss@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi Larry, Larry Sevilla <sevilla.larry.oss@gmail.com> (2016-07-05): Thanks for following up. This seems like something that should be reported against the linux kernel. KiBi.
Dear Maintainer, I am trying to install Debian 9 in a VM on Hyper-V 2012 R2 as part of a test lab. Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad (Q6600) Memory : 8 GB Debian CD: debian-9.3.0-i386-netinst.iso Installer: non-GUI Switch to log screen (Alt+F4), then to console (Alt+F2). Kill running mke2fs process and run manually: fail (stuck @ 33%) Install using ext3 instead of ext4: fail (stuck @ 33%) Install Debian 9.3.0 amd64: success Install Debian 7 i386: success Install Debian 8 i386: success Issue seems to be isolated to Debian 9 i386 and independent of selected filesystem type. Please note that the automatically generated System Information in this message reflects the reporting system, not the system on which installation fails. Regards, -Roger
