I recently upgraded apsfilter from the stable to the current
unstable (6.0.0.0-1) release. My printer is an Epson Stylus Color
440, and was printing in all modes with the stable package. I ran
apsfilterrc, and used printer driver "stcany.upp" A test print using
apsfilterconfig ran the following

     cat setup/test.ps | gs -q @stcany.upp
-sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile='/tmp/aps_testout.XNhlPE' -

and printed as expected. The /etc/printcap file generated by
apsfilterconfig is attached. The printcap file contains the entries used
with
the old version of apsfilter as well as the new ones (auto1 and raw1).
Note
that I also upgraded gs from 5.10-11 to gs-aladdin (6.50-2). I
restarted lpd, then attempted to print a file by running
"lpr -Pauto1 filename"

When I did so, lpr froze (I had to CTRL-C to get back to a prompt) and
there was no printer activity. I had "set -x" uncommented in
/usr/share/apsfilter/bin/apsfilter, but it looks like apsfilter never
generated diagnostic output, and it is likely the script itself never
ran.

I am using Debian GNU/Linux 2.2, kernel 2.2.17.

Is there a bug in the installation process for the apsfilter package, a
bug
in apsfilterconfig, or did I make some mistake? Any assistance you can
provide will be appreciated.
