Dear Maintainer,
since a recent update, the context menus in Icedove always pop out to the bottom
of the mouse pointer, regardless whether there is enough screen space left to
show the menu. This leads to situations where parts of the menu are drawn
off-screen so the bottom menu items are not selectable. See attached screenshot:
Icedove is running in fullscreen, the context menu continues over the bottom of
the window, over the window bar of my awesome window manager, and further
outside of the screen.
This only seems to happen when the screen size gets smaller. For example, in my
case, I frequently use xrandr to change between a 1280x1024 desktop screen and
the integrated 1366x768 screen of my laptop. When using the desktop setup, the
context menus are drawn normally and every item is visible, but on the laptop
screen they are cropped.
A quick workaround for this is to restart Icedove after changing the screen
size. (It tends to run slower nevertheless the longer it is left open, so maybe
this is a feature… ;-))
I cannot remember since when this is the case, but previous versions of Icedove
were running without this behaviour on my current window manager setup.
Cheers,
- Roland
