Commands such as apt list or search would benefit from using a pager.
Using a pager manually results in loss of color and the
no-stable-interface warning...

I have noticed this feature request while I was trying to figure out if
an issue with pager had been reported. Actually pager has been added
without mentioning this bug number:

with further improvements:
   APT doesn't respect pager's configuration with apt show

There is a request to avoid trimming of long lines by "apt show":

I think, this bug may be either closed or retitled to document the new
feature.
