Dear Maintainer,

due the PHP7 transition at least the suggestion for using
php-mail-mimedecode for PEAR related code is wrong for testing/stretch
or above.

I discovered this issue while updating the d-push package which includes
modified files from PEAR. The following output is given for example:

  X: z-push-common: embedded-pear-module usr/share/z-push/include/mimeDecode.php please use php-mail-mimedecode

But php-mail-mimedecode was removed from testing on 02 May 2016

This is due a ROM because of the PHP7 transition.

I don't know if there is a aquivalent package available after the PHP7
transition. If not this warning needs to be otherwise solved.

Regards
Carsten

thanks

Hi Carsten,

I'm not in the PHP ecosystem, alas. Can someone who does let us know the
modern equivalent?

(Marking as "moreinfo" to match)

Best wishes,

me too. :-/
There was a ITP started in the summer this year to re-introduce a
updated php-mail-mimedecode package. But I guess Prachi Srivastava
<prachi@swecha.net> is needing a sponsor anyway.
If we can get a up2date package the lintian check would become valid for
buster and unstable again.

But for the Z-Push package upstream has made some modifications to the
copied usptream files and we had to set a lintian override anyway.

@Prachi
Do you need any help? What's the current state of your ITP? Do you need
a sponsor?
