* Package name : flatcam Version : 8.5 Upstream Author : Juan Pablo Caram <jpcaram@gmail.com> * URL : http://flatcam.org/ * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : 2D Computer-Aided PCB Manufacturing on a CNC router FlatCAM is a program for preparing CNC jobs for creating prototyps of PCBs on a CNC router. You can open Gerber, Excellon or G-code, edit it or create from scratch, and output G-Code. Isolation routing is one of many tasks that FlatCAM is perfect for. There seems to be no other packaged software for PCB milling in Debian, as this peace of software is rather small and not complex I think it's useful, at least for me. I'd like to place this package into the pkg-electronics team as other PCB related package are workend on there. I will need a sponsor. Regards Carsten
Hi, In case there are no other sponsors, I could do it, but please treat this as a last resort as I often have long stretches where I don't even find time to go online. Simon
Hello pkg-electronics members, Simon was answering on my ITP from several days ago for FlatCAM and was offering a probably sponsoring for the package (Thanks Simon!). As I like to place the package into the pkg-electronics ecosystem as it fits best here I believe, I would like to ask if the pkg-electronics team member agree that I can set the maintainer ship to pkg-electronics and if some of you would kindly sponsor the FlatCAM package at some point? I'm working on other packages as a DM for quite some time so I have some packaging experience for about 5-6 years as I'm co-maintaining Icedove package for this time with Christoph and Guido. A few months ago I was starting to bring the kicad package into a git-buildpackage workflow which reflected in a upload of a new prepared version by Georges some days ago. I'd be happy if the pkg-electronics team would take a look into my work of packaging and hopefully later could sponsor a FlatCAM upload. I prepare the packaging currently on my GitHub site [1]. I am not sure if the team is still active. I am not able to help lately (also I am not a DD). Bdale also seems to be busy.
Hello Simon and pkg-electronics followers, all people are busy as we are on the way into the full freeze now. :) ... After some other things I've was again looking into my previous packaging work for flatcam. Some small, more cosmetic things I was reworking and from my point of view it should be prepared now for a upload into NEW. @Simon You have offered a sponsorship for the package some weeks ago, could you please take a look into the prepared package and give me feedback if you agree on the current state or if I should still change something? Like before the preparation is done in the tree on my GitHub account: https://github.com/tijuca/flatcam If some other person here on pkg-electronic will do also a sponsoring before Simon I'm happy to take that help! Regards Carsten
Hi, I'm still interested to do the packaging of flatcam. Flatcam is while writing still depending on Qt4 in most or all of the parts, due the announcement of Qt4 removal within the Buster release preparation I contacted upstream and informed Juan Pablo about the planned Qt4 removal. Unfortunately I have got no feedback on this. I plan not to do further packaging until upstream has made some statement about further development of flatcam depending on the deprecated state of Qt4. https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/issues/221/intent-to-package-flatcam-for-debian In case someone can help usptream to swich to a Qt5 based flatcam please feel free to do so. Regards Carsten
