When I try to connect with rdesktop in a windows server 2008, the terminal say: " Failed to negotiate protocol, retrying with plain RDP." This bug happened in the begining of jessie, but has a workaround installing the ubuntu package (1.8.3.2) and was fixed later. Now in the test version, it's happening again. (This doesn't happen in older versions of debian)
Dear Maintainer, the bug seems to have made it into stable: ~$ rdesktop <windows server 2008> Autoselected keyboard map en-us Failed to negotiate protocol, retrying with plain RDP. Segmentation fault Help would be very appreciated. Kind regards, Olaf
Hello Gabriel + Olaf, in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=763599 (Nov. 2016) I found a solution for connection problems to Windows 2008 R2 (disconnect: Invalid licensing message). A newer version solved the problem. After this we got crash to connect to older Windows 2003 R2 (segfaults/ Speicherzugriffsfehler). With the old version for jessie we can connect successful. But in this case we got no connection to Win 2008 R2 any more. The solution for this is to install the original version from https://github.com/rdesktop/rdesktop. Now we can connect to older and newer versions of windows. But the version from git has a other bug if you start rdesktop without console. This we solved and now you can download the package from http://debian.b-c-s.net/dists/bcs/bcs/binary-amd64/x11/rdesktop_1.8.3-bcs_amd64.deb I hope the package solves your problem and you can close the bug. Mit freundlichen Grüßen Carsten Burkhardt

Your package works, but for some reason it forces the layout of my keyboard to english when I log in. I also will only mark this bug as solved when they fix this in the main repository package. But thank you very much.
