Dear maintainer(s)! Attached you will find a patch which includes (nearly) all of the patches the Fedora people included in their distribution of isc-dhcp, pulled from this location: git://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/dhcp.git It includes all patches up to rev. f4e9ae9e62a8e9a19c77d98c196256b4075a99d9 , tagged "dhcp-4.3.5-1.fc25" So far, this has been done: * Debian patches have been applied on top of the Fedora patches (or: Fedora first, Debian second) * redundant patches have been eliminated * build system patches have been modified following Debian precedent (Debian uses a packetized version of the ISC libraries, Fedora statically includes the relevant functionality) * patches have been modified so they apply and the packages can be built The patch attached applies against the contents of "isc-dhcp_4.3.5-3.debian.tar.xz", as downloaded today from "http://http.debian.net/debian/pool/main/i/isc-dhcp/isc-dhcp_4.3.5-3.debian.tar.xz" . Packages build successfully, the programs run. The reason I did this work was to include a _working_ implementation of DHCP over InfiniBand fabrics (RFC 4390), pieces of hardware quite common in an HPC environment. However, I failed at extracting the exact single patch(es) doing this, so I went for all of them. I'm happy to report success, the modified version is now running for quite some time; server and client act in a correct fashion, on both ethernet and InfiniBand. I sincerely hope that this is useful to you. Please let me know what needs to be done so this can be included in Debian's next release. Yours sincerely, Sebastian
Hi Sebastian, Historically when I was actively maintaining Debian's DHCP package, I was resistant to having Debian's source wildly diverge from upstream (basically I'm anti-forking just for the sake of it). Have you contributed any of these patches back to ISC for inclusion in a future release? regards Andrew
control: tag -1 -patch control: tag -1 upstream control: forcemerge 786350 -1 I agree with Andrew, there is no way that this will be accepted as is. Ubuntu includes an infiniband patch in their packages if you're interested, but it changes way too much. The only way this is getting into the debian packages is if someone does the work to get it included upstream first. Best wishes, Mike

Dear submitter, as the package isc-dhcp has just been removed from the Debian archive unstable we hereby close the associated bug reports. We are sorry that we couldn't deal with your issue properly. For details on the removal, please see https://bugs.debian.org/1143544 The version of this package that was in Debian prior to this removal can still be found using https://snapshot.debian.org/. Please note that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing ftpmaster@ftp-master.debian.org.
