* Package name : eternal-terminal Version : 3.0.6 Upstream Author : Jason Gauci * URL : https://mistertea.github.io/EternalTCP/ * License : Apache-2.0 Programming Lang: C++ Description : Remote terminal for the busy and impatient Eternal Terminal (ET) is a remote shell that automatically reconnects without interrupting the session.
Hello ChangZhuo, I don't know if you are still working at EternalTerminal, but I would not consider it mature enough for inclusion in Debian until the issue of its (undocumented) hard dependency on the user's shell is properly addressed: https://github.com/MisterTea/EternalTerminal/issues/106 When I opened that issue I was considering packaging EternalTerminal for Debian. I have somehow lost interest when I saw that upstream was not interested in fixing what I did consider an important shortcoming. Cheers, Paride
Hey, We are working on supporting all shells in our v6 branch that you can track here: https://github.com/MisterTea/EternalTerminal/tree/v6 . We have thousands of users, so changing the protocol isn't something that we can do lightly, but we want to support fish and other shells, so we will definitely roll it out once it's ready. But, it would be a shame if we can't get this into Debian main just because we only support bash/zsh. That doesn't seem like a good reason to block the package. Jason Gauci.
Hi folks, It seems that the v6 branch has been completed and merged so the blocker of shell support has been resolved. Can we move forward with this package landing in debian? I would love to not have to use a 3rd party repo Thanks Dean
Control: forcemerge 865881 985189 There is already an ITP for this package, merging the two bugs. https://bugs.debian.org/865881
