Thanks for your report. The issue is known upstream:

As far as I can tell no other Debian package provides a binary named
'vis', but I understand the name clash can be annoying. To be honest I
don't like the idea of renaming the binary in Debian, especially until
it is not yet decided if the project will be renamed by the upstream
developer.

As there is no urgency, I propose to leave this bug open and wait to see
how #338 is settled.
