As announced [1], we do not intend to release Debian 10 "Buster" with the old libgnome (and related) libraries. These libraries have been deprecated and unmaintained for several years. Your package depends and or build-depends on libgnomecanvas. Please port your package to GTK3 and related maintained libraries. Otherwise, please consider requesting that your package be removed from Debian to help us complete this goal. 2017-12-29 21:12 GMT+01:00 Jeremy Bicha <jbicha@debian.org>: Hi Joshua, as you see swami needs to be ported to GTK3 otherwise will be removed from debian with next debian release. Please let me know if there is a plan such update. best regards mira
Hello Mira, While I do plan on porting Swami to GTK3 at some point, it is not a trivial task and I haven't had much time for it. I'll definitely keep this in mind in regards to Debian removing it if it isn't ported and prioritize this accordingly. When would a port need to be completed in order to continue to be a part of Debian? Best regards, Element
2018-01-01 18:34 GMT+01:00 Element Green <jgreen@users.sourceforge.net>: Hello Joshua, thank you for reply ... release date for Buster wasn't set yet but I guess it will be sometime about June 2019 ... so there is a time. best regards mira
Thank you for the info. Should give me enough time to do the port. Best regards, Element
As announced [1], we do not intend to release Debian 10 "Buster" with the old libgnome (and related) libraries. As part of this process, I am now raising the severity of this bug. [1] https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2018/02/msg00169.html On behalf of the Debian GNOME team, Jeremy Bicha
libgnomecanvas has been adopted and will be in buster. It is still recommended to migrate away from the obsolete libgnomecanvas, but this is now no longer a release critical issue for buster. cu Adrian
